Ordinary people did something extraordinary.
When the time came, we showed up for each other. We did right by each other. We shared the love with each other.
Now we need to step up again. It’s time to turn #ApplauseIntoAction.
Whether we’ve volunteered, checked on neighbours or put our normal lives on hold to stay at home, millions of us have already done something incredible for all of us.
The National Health Team is a new movement for every family with a rainbow in their window, for everyone who has stayed at home to protect the NHS, for everyone who has stood on their doorstep with a full heart clapping for our carers.
Now we need to take all that love and turn it into permanent change.
We aren’t asking for your money. We’re asking for your energy.
Our movement has an objective: to make ourselves, our communities and our country healthier. And we have some goals:
Build the team
Our movement is for everyone who wants to turn #ApplauseIntoAction.
That might be a few thousand people or it might be a few million people.
We think our first task is to find all those people, whenever they are in the UK, and invite them to take a pledge about what they’re going to do.
Once thousands of us are pledging we will have more of a sense of where the energy is. We don’t know yet whether more of us are going to be interested in taking up a personal fitness challenge or in community activities to clean up our local parks or woods. Maybe lots of us are interested in fixing the social care crisis, or maybe we’re desperate to protect the gains we’ve made in having cleaner air during coronavirus.
We don’t know any of that yet, but what we do know is we will have more impact if we work together.
Change the world
Once we’ve built a movement that can’t be ignored, we’ll focus on encouraging each other to take action – for ourselves, our community and our country. We will run campaigns, challenges and competitions. We will keep you inspired with stories and content you love and that connect you to other team members across the UK.
We’re going to have a lot of fun. And we’re going to change the world.
